Description

CT Scan Technologist

Location: Hackensack, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Contract Length: 11 weeks


Job Summary

  • Perform complex CT procedures including computer tomography and related imaging techniques.
  • Produce sectional and 3D images for interpretation and assist with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
  • Use professional judgment to review and obtain patient clinical history, ensuring documentation in PACS.
  • Prepare, screen, and review contrast questionnaires with patients/family and document in EPIC.
  • Administer contrast media as prescribed and verify exam appropriateness with physicians.
  • Obtain outside studies and schedule them for radiologist comparison.
  • Provide exam copies to patients and requesting parties.
  • Evaluate radiographs for proper identification and diagnostic quality using PACS.
  • Prepare patients for scanning including shielding and immobilization.
  • Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance following guidelines.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions during procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and caregivers, adapting to their needs (age, culture, language, disabilities).
  • Lift at least 25 lbs., push/pull 50 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours daily.
  • Work scheduled shifts including holidays, every third weekend, with on-call and overtime as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid CT Technologist license in New Jersey
  • Minimum 2 years of CT Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of a Radiologic Technologist program or a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • ARRT certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Additional Information

  • Must be willing to cover 1 weekend of on-call obligations if needed
  • Adherence to departmental policies on behavior, attendance, and punctuality required
  • Commitment to maintaining CEU credits
  • Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with diverse patient populations
