Description
Registered Nurse ICU - Pediatrics
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Job Summary
Provide nursing care under general supervision to pediatric patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex in a hospital setting. Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, monitoring physiological data, assisting physicians, and coordinating care with families and support staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned group of patients.
- Document patient responses and changes in physician orders.
- Assist physicians with examinations and minor procedures.
- Monitor and intervene based on patients' physiological data.
- Administer medications, intravenous infusions, and blood products.
- Communicate care plans to patients and families.
- Delegate tasks to support staff.
- Float to various pediatric units including PICU, CICU, NICU (low acuity feeder growers only), surgical, behavioral health, medical specialty (GI, neuro, respiratory), hematology/oncology, step-down, and cardiac pediatrics.
- Work weekends and holidays as required.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of recent Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience.
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients.
- Experience with tracheostomy care.
- Experience with high-flow oxygen therapy.
- Familiarity with infusion therapy.
- Experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
- Experience in Behavioral Health.
- Experience in Gastroenterology.
- Experience in Neurology.
- Experience in Pulmonology.
- Experience in Hematology/Oncology.
Work Schedule
- 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week.
- Weekends and holidays required.
- Float pool position with assignments across multiple pediatric units.
Additional Information
- This position involves working in a fast-paced pediatric critical care environment.
- Candidates must be adaptable to floating between units with varying patient acuity levels.
