RN Surgical Specialty

Location

• Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• 48 hours per week

Role Overview

• Hospital-based nursing role providing care for patients with a range of health problems
• Mixed med/surg and stepdown/PCU surgical transplant unit
• Care includes post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients, plus pre-transplant patients being evaluated during inpatient stay
• Not a PACU position
• OR candidates are not accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Oklahoma
• 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
• Experience in an acute care setting
• Med Surg experience
• Transplant experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Preferred Experience

• ENT experience
• Transplant experience
• Preceptor experience
• Charge experience

Key Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned group of patients
• Document patient responses and changes in physician orders
• Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatment
• Monitor patient physiological data and intervene when needed
• Administer medications and manage IV infusions and blood products
• Communicate care plans and discharge information to patients and families
• Make referrals for patient care needs
• Delegate tasks to support staff
