Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical/Transplant Med/Surg unit requiring acute care surgical floor experience and a compact or Oklahoma RN license.
Details
- Work in the Surgical/Transplant unit (4W) of a hospital, a mixed stepdown and acute care floor
- Care for post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients as well as pre-transplant patients undergoing inpatient evaluation
- Patients require close monitoring for infection, rejection, and timely medication administration
- This is not a PACU or OR position
- Nurses may be assigned to either Med/Surg or Stepdown/PCU patients depending on staffing needs
- ICU nurses floated to the unit during short-staffed periods work Stepdown patients based on acuity and skill set
- Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, 4 days per week, 48 hours per week
Requirements
- Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Acute care surgical floor experience required
- Stepdown/PCU experience required
- ENT and/or transplant experience preferred
- Preceptor and charge experience preferred
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required, BSN preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to an assigned group of surgical and transplant patients
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and communicate changes in physician orders
- Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments
- Monitor physiological data and intervene as needed based on patient status
- Administer medications and manage IV infusions and blood product administration
- Educate patients and families on care plans, hospital procedures, and discharge planning
- Coordinate referrals to appropriate personnel based on patient care needs
- Delegate tasks to support staff as appropriate
- OR-only candidates will not be considered for this position
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
