1. General job duties. Types of procedures required. Assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. Also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is impaired function. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a manager. Performs other related duties as assigned. Collaborates with appropriate disciplines to coordinate continuity of patient care from admission through discharge in support of the respiratory, medical and nursing plans of care • Ensures appropriate operations of specialized equipment through the continuous monitoring of the patient condition and all related equipment • Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases • Measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is impaired function • Demonstrates critical thinking and the ability to respond promptly to changes in workload or to make adjustments in assignments as needed to achieve optimal productivity, efficacy and quality patient care • Demonstrates familiarity with electronic charting • Establishes and maintain working relations with physicians and other health care personnel • Performs a variety of tasks • Performs other related duties as assigned • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function • Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned 2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.) EPIC, V60 bipaps, 980 and 840 ventilators 3. Required skills and minimum years of experience. 2 Years of experience as an RT Candidates with NICU experience preferred but not required Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy or U.S. military equivalent required Ability to communicate well and technical skills to adapt equipment and procedures Good customer relations, assessment, and communication skills are necessary for this job 4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc) Credentialed as an RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) required Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Idaho required AHA BLS & AHA ACLS required 5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?) Never alone, no call, every other weekend 6. Floating to other units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?) Only RT 7. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept. 299 bed hospital with a 40 bed ED 8. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only) N/A 9. Dress Code: Olive green scrubs (Available in the department) 10. Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program. General orientation followed by a short department specific orientation by our educator.
