CT Technologist - Travel Position

Location: Summerville, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel (Clinical-Allied-Travel)
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

Under the supervision of certified radiologists, the CT Technologist will produce computerized tomography scanner radiographs of designated anatomical areas as ordered by physicians to assist in diagnosis. Responsibilities include assisting radiologists during procedures, supervising student Radiologic Technologists, and maintaining good patient and customer relations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient care and safety during imaging procedures using age-appropriate care and established protocols.
  • Perform imaging procedures efficiently, minimizing repeat exams and managing supplies cost-effectively.
  • Prepare and instruct patients on imaging procedures, assist with informed consent, and communicate effectively with patients and families.
  • Verify correct orders, diagnoses, and clinical history; maintain clear communication with radiologists and present a professional demeanor.
  • Adhere to hospital and safety policies, practice radiation safety according to ALARA principles, and maintain current licensure and certifications.
  • Assist other imaging team members and departments as needed, demonstrating flexibility, accountability, and initiative to improve operations.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, and lifting/moving patients (up to 50 lbs).
  • Frequent use of hand/finger dexterity and reaching.
  • Exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, radiation, toxic chemicals, and blood-borne pathogens.
  • Work may involve stressful conditions, deadlines, irregular hours, and may require taking call or working weekends/holidays.
  • Noise level ranges from quiet to moderate.

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform and teach CT exams to produce diagnostic images preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required. Graduate of an accredited Allied Health Professionals school preferred. Completion of an accredited Computed Tomography program preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Registered in Radiologic Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or permanent certification in Radiography from SCRQSA.
    • ARRT registration in CT preferred.
    • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider certification required.
