Registered Nurse (RN) - 3S Comp-Med Stepdown

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Specialty: Medical-Surgical Stepdown / 3 South Unit


Job Summary

  • Provide specialized nursing care based on biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences principles.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in partnership with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Care is culturally based and age-specific.
  • Adhere to the American Nursing Association (ANA) code of ethics and Ohio Nurse Practice Act.

Unit Description

  • 29-bed medical stepdown unit specializing in acute MI, cardiac arrhythmias, cardiomyopathy, CHF, and other low-risk cardiac/chest pain diagnoses.
  • Provides general medical services including cardiology, renal, endocrinology, general medicine, pulmonology, gastroenterology, and oncology.
  • Staff receive special training in non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (Bi-PAP, C-PAP, A-PAP).
  • Responsibilities include infusion therapy, transfusions, injections, and central line care.
  • Patient care assistants support with ADLs, point-of-care glucose testing, and 12 Lead EKGs.
  • Dedicated stroke unit; all RNs are NIH stroke scale certified.
