Job Summary

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will provide and manage patient care using professional nursing knowledge and skills. Your role involves applying the nursing process to promote clinical excellence, patient safety, and effective communication within the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote evidence-based nursing practice through protocols and procedures.
• Develop individualized care plans collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Assess patient status via interview, observation, and physical assessment.
• Implement appropriate interventions to achieve expected patient outcomes.
• Continuously evaluate and document patient progress throughout the shift.
• Modify care plans as needed based on patient condition changes.
• Maintain professional accountability and pursue ongoing self-development.
• Demonstrate technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoot issues.
• Support professional development of self and team members through knowledge sharing.
• Apply safe patient handling techniques and use lift equipment as applicable.
• Obtain lab specimens and perform bedside lab testing with quality control.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care and collaborate effectively with team members.
• Prioritize work based on patient condition and assignment changes.
• Advocate for patients with physicians when necessary.
• Provide culturally and developmentally appropriate patient education.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience within the last year
• Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
