CT Technologist - Travel Position
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel, Clinical Allied Health
Job Summary
Under the supervision of certified radiologists, the CT Technologist performs computerized tomography scans of designated anatomical areas as ordered by physicians to assist in diagnosis. Responsibilities include assisting radiologists during procedures, supervising student radiologic technologists, and maintaining good patient and customer relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure patient care and safety during imaging procedures using age-appropriate care and following established protocols.
- Perform CT procedures efficiently, minimizing repeat exams and managing supplies with cost containment in mind.
- Prepare and instruct patients on imaging procedures, assist with informed consent, and communicate effectively with patients and families.
- Verify correct orders, diagnoses, and clinical history; communicate clearly with radiologists and maintain professional demeanor.
- Adhere to safety policies, radiation protection guidelines (ALARA principles), and complete mandatory in-services.
- Assist other imaging team members and departments as needed, demonstrating flexibility, teamwork, and initiative.
- Work demands include frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients (up to 50 lbs), exposure to blood/body fluids, infectious materials, radiation, and occasional exposure to toxic chemicals. May require working under stressful conditions, irregular hours, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties.
Required Qualifications
- Valid CT Technologist license in South Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of CT Technologist experience within the last year
- Radiology Technologist experience
- High school diploma or GED
- ARRT certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to perform and teach CT exams to produce diagnostic-quality images preferred.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Contract Length
- 12 weeks
