Job Summary

Perform a variety of nursing care functions within all aspects of endoscopy under direct supervision of a provider, nursing leadership, and/or a Registered Nurse (RN). Support and comfort patients, observe and communicate pertinent data to the RN, and perform technical patient care services under supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and RN with endoscopic procedures.
• Provide pre-, intra-, and post-procedure patient care including vital sign monitoring as directed.
• Prepare procedure rooms, make beds, clean rooms, and serve as equipment runner during procedures and patient transport.
• Properly position patients before and during procedures.
• Select and perform quality control checks on endoscopes (air, water, white balancing).
• Enter patient and procedure information into endoscopy reporting software.
• Handle and manage procedure accessory equipment (e.g., forceps, snares, clips, retrieval nets, heater probes, specimen containers).
• Support airway via head positioning and perform oropharyngeal suctioning.
• Provide abdominal pressure as guided by provider.
• Collect and accurately label specimens.
• Perform immediate post-procedure endoscope pre-cleaning.
• Set up, assemble, and disassemble accessories for technical procedures.
• Troubleshoot endoscopes and support equipment (suction, CO2 pumps, water pumps).
• Clean and process equipment after procedures, including leak testing and troubleshooting.
• Perform high-level disinfection of endoscopes and accessories.
• Assist with other duties or projects as assigned.

Shift Details

• 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.
• On-call required:

  • One weekend per month (coverage starts at 6:00 AM, 24-hour shift).
  • One week per month (coverage 4:30 PM to 6:00 AM).

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Endoscopy Technician, with experience within the last year.
