Job Opportunity: Radiographer (Radiologic Technologist)
Location
- Detroit, Michigan
Job Summary
- Perform radiologic procedures under the direction of a Radiologist to evaluate pathological conditions as ordered by a physician.
- Utilize independent judgment for radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety.
- Explain procedures to patients and prepare them for examinations.
- Review clinical data and obtain additional patient history as needed.
- Prepare procedure rooms and maintain supplies.
- Operate radiologic equipment manually to obtain diagnostic images.
- May select and administer intravenous contrast media and monitor patients for reactions.
- Apply radiation protection principles including shielding and dose reduction techniques.
- Follow infection control practices and maintain sterile equipment as required.
- Complete all necessary documentation, logs, and patient records.
- Assist in teaching and educating new hires and students.
- Manage image quality and indexing in PACS and Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Collaborate with Radiologists to confirm clinical protocols.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Every other weekend, 1:00 PM – 11:30 PM
- 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Radiology Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year.
- Registered in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, or maintenance of required continued education hours.
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma or Level 2 Trauma patients.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Work in hospital settings including fixed units and mobile units in inpatient departments, OR, ER, etc.
- Potential exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and contagious patients.
- Occasional lifting or moving of equipment and patients exceeding 10 lbs.
