Job Summary

Provide timely, accurate, and reliable respiratory therapy services to inpatients, outpatients, UHS staff, and affiliated community groups as needed.

Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy procedures as directed.
• Perform treatments such as Aerosol Therapy, CPT/Flutter/PEP Mask therapy, Incentive Spirometry, M.D.I. therapy, suctioning, and extubation.
• Ensure oxygen tank safety and manage oxygen therapy on approved devices.
• Manage BiPAP-CPAP therapy, high-flow cannula/humidifier therapy, and alarms.
• Perform diagnostic procedures including Pulmonary Function Screen, Fit Testing, Pulse Oximetry, and EKG (Adult and Pediatric).
• Provide BLS life support (Adult, Pediatric, Neonatal).
• Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator alarms.
• Perform arterial puncture and analysis for the Blood Gas Laboratory, including quality control.
• Utilize healthcare information systems (Soarian, MAK, McKesson).
• Verify physician orders and record/report procedure results.
• Assist in departmental in-service programs and perform other assigned duties.

Required Qualifications

• Up to 3 years of experience.
• Graduation from an accredited School for Respiratory Therapy.
• New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC).
• BLS and ACLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
