Job Summary

Reports to the Dialysis Nurse Manager/Coordinator and collaborates with the Medical Director, Manager, Technical Leader, and unit staff. Responsible for patient assessments, care planning, implementation of nursing actions, and evaluation of care effectiveness. Oversees care provided by LPNs and non-licensed personnel, assumes Charge Nurse responsibilities, and adheres to organizational mission, values, and goals.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments, considering age-specific needs.
• Respond effectively in emergency situations.
• Provide direct patient care and participate in case management.
• Perform blood-drawing procedures and administer medications per policy.
• Monitor and adjust dialysis therapy to meet patient needs.
• Document care and observations in patient records.
• Educate patients on dialysis modalities and contribute to rehabilitation efforts.
• Function as part of an interdisciplinary team and oversee clinical technicians.
• Follow infection control policies and operational protocols.
• Demonstrate problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership skills.
• Adhere to confidentiality, HIPAA, and safety standards.
• Participate in process improvement and continuous learning initiatives.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

• Frequent standing and walking; lifting and pushing patients and equipment.
• Exposure to hazardous materials; must pass a color vision test and respond to audible alarms.

Education/Experience Required

• Graduate of a state-approved nursing school.
• Current RN licensure with the applicable State Board of Nursing.
• Minimum 12 months of nursing experience, including 3 months in maintenance hemodialysis care.
