Endoscopy Tech - Michigan, Rochester
Job Summary
- Perform a variety of nursing care functions within all aspects of Endoscopy under direct supervision of a provider, nursing leadership, and/or Registered Nurse (RN).
- Assist physicians and RN with endoscopic procedures.
- Provide pre-, intra-, and post-endoscopic care including monitoring vital signs as directed.
- Support patient comfort and safety through proper positioning and airway support.
- Handle, assemble, disassemble, and troubleshoot endoscopic instruments and accessories.
- Perform high-level disinfection and cleaning of endoscopes and related equipment.
- Enter patient and procedure information into endoscopy report software.
- Assist with specimen collection and labeling.
- Perform immediate post-procedure endoscope pre-cleaning and quality control checks.
- Assist with other duties or projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Endoscopy Technician, with experience within the last year.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program, Surgical Technician, or Emergency Medical Technician training.
- Familiarity with endoscopy equipment or scope/instrument reprocessing.
- Minimum of two years healthcare exposure in a similar clinical setting.
Skills & Responsibilities
- Endoscopic procedures support (pre-, intra-, post-procedure).
- Monitoring vital signs.
- Equipment handling: endoscopic forceps, polyp snares, clips, retrieval nets/graspers, heater probes, specimen containers.
- Airway support including head positioning and oropharyngeal suctioning.
- Providing abdominal pressure as guided.
- Specimen collection and accurate labeling.
- Quality control checks including air, water, and white balancing.
- Troubleshooting suction, CO2 pumps, water pumps, and leak testing.
- Cleaning, assembling, disassembling, and high-level disinfection of endoscopic instruments.
- Room cleaning, bed making, equipment running, and patient transport.
Experience Requirements
- Preferred minimum of 2 years healthcare experience in a similar clinical setting.
- Prior travel experience is not required.
Shift & Schedule
- Regular shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (8 hours/day, 40 hours/week).
- On-call required:
- One weekend per month: 6:00 AM – 6:00 AM (24-hour shift).
- One weeknight per month: 4:30 PM – 6:00 AM.
This position requires strong technical skills in endoscopy support, patient care, and equipment management, with a focus on safety and quality control under supervision.
