Orthopedic Nurse Navigator - Travel Position

Location: Salinas, California
Employment Type: Travel Nursing (Clinical - Nursing)
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide comprehensive care coordination for patients undergoing joint replacement surgery, from pre-operative education through recovery. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in compliance with Joint Commission Certification standards. Support patients and families emotionally and psychosocially, develop educational materials, and collaborate closely with medical staff and program committees.


Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and coordinate care for joint replacement patients throughout the surgical process.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the Joint Replacement Program in collaboration with the program committee.
  • Provide pre-operative education classes and ongoing follow-up support to improve patient recovery and quality of life.
  • Assist patients in understanding treatment plans and recovery processes.
  • Offer psychosocial and emotional support to patients and families.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to ensure timely and coordinated care.
  • Participate in Joint Certification meetings and related committees.
  • Develop educational materials for patients, families, and clinical staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Minimum of 1 year of Nurse Navigator experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Minimum of 4 years of program development and implementation experience.
  • Orthopedic Nurse Certification from the Orthopaedic Nurses Certification Board or relevant specialty certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Recent experience in orthopedics.
  • Knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) disease-specific standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
