Job Title: Special Procedures Technologist
Location: Not specified
Job Summary: Following established protocols and under the medical supervision of certified radiologists, the Special Procedures Technologist performs imaging procedures for diagnostic interpretation. Responsibilities include assisting radiologists during procedures, supervising student Radiologic Technologists, and maintaining good customer relations. The technologist ensures patient care and safety during imaging procedures, adheres to hospital and safety policies, and practices radiation safety in accordance with ALARA principles. Additional duties include obtaining correct written orders, instructing and preparing patients, maintaining accurate records, and supporting departmental goals. The role requires flexibility, teamwork, and a professional demeanor while maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
Required Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist or at least 1 year of experience in Special Procedures/Vascular Interventional Radiology
- Graduate of an accredited school of Allied Health Professionals
- South Carolina Radiation Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA) Radiographer Certification
- ARRT Radiography (R) Certification
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of an ARRT-accredited Vascular Interventional Radiology Program
- ARRT VI Radiology Certification
Additional Information:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to perform and teach Special Procedures exams
- Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations
- Proficiency in operating imaging and standard office equipment
