Job Title: OB Surgery Tech
Location: Not specified
Job Summary:
Performs scrub duties and maintains sterile supplies and sterile technique. Assists in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. Assembles, organizes, and completes case carts according to doctor’s preference lists. Provides appropriate instrumentation, suture, and all supplies as requested and maintains a sterile environment. May assist the surgeon by passing instruments during cases. Counts sponges, needles, blades, and instruments using proper technique and established policy. Assists in maintenance and care of specimens and prepares for laboratory analysis. Handles specimens, implants, dressings, soiled instruments, contaminated materials, and sharps in accordance with established policy and recommended standards of practice. Assists with timely turnover of rooms, including cleanup, replacement, and restocking of supplies and equipment. Cares for instruments and equipment. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health and abides by service behavior standards. Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business needs. May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
Required Qualifications:
• At least 1 year of OB experience as a Surgical Tech
• 2 years of Surgical Tech experience with strong OB skills
• High school diploma or GED
• Graduation from a formal, accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent training in the US military
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications:
• 1 year of clinical experience in an accredited hospital
