Job Summary:
The Pathologists’ Assistant is primarily responsible for assisting the pathologist with surgical specimens and other related duties. Responsibilities include assisting in the selection, preparation, and dissection of surgical tissue sections for various studies, ensuring accuracy of patient information and gross descriptions, and preparing tissue sections for intraoperative consultations. Additional duties involve procuring fresh tissue samples for research and therapeutic purposes, maintaining equipment and cleanliness, assisting in teaching exercises, performing computer system functions for timely reporting, and supporting post-mortem examinations as directed. The role requires adherence to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience
• Bachelor’s degree from a NAACLS accredited institution as a pathologists’ assistant with training in anatomic pathology (surgical and autopsy pathology)
• Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences or other biological discipline
• ASCP certification as an on-the-job trained PA in a hospital laboratory
• American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree

Additional Information:
• Preferred schedule: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, 5x8s, with flexibility for evening hours as needed
• No weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements
