Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician - RST

Job Summary: The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for performing delegated activities to support the operating room team in the care of the surgical patient. This includes preparing and delivering medical/surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures, cleaning and processing surgical equipment and instrumentation, maintaining inventory and storage of supplies, managing sterilization tracking systems, and operating power equipment for instrument processing.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) Certification as a Central Processing Technician (CRCST) within 18 months of hire
- Must be 18 years of age prior to start date
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- CBSPD or CRCST certification
- Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the perioperative setting
- Proven ability to communicate with a variety of people in a direct, empathetic, and articulate manner
- Demonstrated patient-centered and customer-focused communication skills
- Frequent lifting/carrying of 25 pounds or more, with occasional work above shoulder level
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of experience in the handling and sterilization processing of surgical/medical/dental instrumentation within the past four years
- Vocational certificate as Central Service Technician or Patient Care Assistant within the last two years
- At least two years of experience as a Central Service Technician or Patient Care Assistant in an acute care setting within the last five years
- Knowledge of medical terminology
