Our step-down Progressive Care Unit cares for a variety of adult patients and conditions who require monitoring but does not warrant care in the Intensive Care Unit. Many of our patients require continuous monitoring and complex 24-hour care while working with specialized equipment in a fast-paced environment requiring highly skilled, proactive, and dedicated nurses. The unit cares for patients with complications from chronic diseases such as diabetes, to post-op orthopedic patients, evaluation of those with cardiac changes, providing life saving interventions, collaborating with other specialties, and educating patients and family members. Our unit features large private rooms each with standard lift equipment and bedside computers that allow physicians and nurses instant access to medical records at bedside. Collaboration, teamwork and attentiveness to the needs of each patient are key components to the excellent care provided to our patient populations at Rust Medical Center. We are growing quickly and care deeply about the development of our team, both professionally and personally, and was named one of the top five general acute care hospitals. We value optimism, compassion, teamwork, and above all, we are united by our shared commitment to putting patients first
