Job Summary and Qualifications


As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator (Charge Nurse) in the Float Pool, you will exemplifies professional nursing practice through expert clinical practice, strong leadership skills, and management activities. You will provide clinical management to the department through coordination of patient care activities, procedures and flow of patients between various unites.  You will serve as a resource to the nursing staff and mentors staff in development of nursing skills and practice. 



Here is some of what you can expect from being a Float Pool Clinical Nurse Coordinator with us: 


  • You will supervise personnel providing direct patient care, with delegation of activities based on patient care needs and competencies of available patient care staff. 
  • You will provide direct and ongoing supervision of staff with regard to conflict resolution and personnel policy compliance, including disciplinary actions.  
  • You will teach, supervise and serve as a resource for staff, assists with clinical procedures as needed. 
  • You will facilitate ongoing performance improvement activities that correlate to the Hospital-wide Performance Improvement Program with involvement of all levels of staff on designated shift as appropriate. 
  • You will make assignments for the present or following shift to provide for smooth transition, and ensures appropriate assignments throughout shift to cover changing patient needs and staff availability due to absences, breaks, etc. 
  • You will self-assign patients and functions as necessary based on patient needs and available resources on unit. 







What qualifications you will need: 


  • Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multi-state Registered Nurse license.  
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required. 
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification in critical care units required; other specialty certifications as required by units preferred. 
  • NIHSS certification within 6 months of hire. 
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.  
  • Bachelor Science Nursing or actively pursuing with completion within 3 years of hire required. 
  • Two (2) years of clinical practice in the clinical specialty of his/her acute care unit and three (3) years of experience for critical care unit. 
  • One to two years’ progressive supervisory/charge/leadership nurse experience preferred.
