We have an exciting opportunity for you to join HCA HealthONE Swedish which is part of the nation's leading provider of healthcare services, HCA Healthcare.Job Summary and QualificationsUnder general supervision, and according to general policies and procedures, the RN Quality Coordinator Patient Safety supports the patient safety department in the maintenance of the grievance process, the patient safety event surveillance system to improve patients and visitor safety and overall quality of care and assisting in risk related activities. Revisions to the job description and accountabilities may be required due to patient care needs and/or efficient operation of the hospital. The  RN Quality Coordinator Patient Safety will be advised in writing of any changes. It is also understood that the job description is not all-inclusive and may be required to perform other related duties.Essential Job Functions, Dept Specific and Population Served, Position Accountabilities ·   Assists the Patient Safety Department in supporting the facility in resolving patient complaints and promoting a positive experience for our patients and visitors. ·   Collects, analyzes and trends data on patient grievances utilizing the patient grievance and PSO tracking database. Monitors patient Grievance responses and investigates delayed responses as appropriate ·   Assists in monitoring the implementation of Serious Event Analysis (SEA) action plans. Utilizes acquired knowledge from analyses, investigations and root cause analyses to recommend process improvements in patient grievance and patient safety initiatives ·   Ensures compliance with organizational wide Patient Grievance program to ensure compliance to statutory mandates, regulatory requirements and accreditation standards of professional organizations, i.e., TJC, CMS, CDPHE, etc. ·   Collaborates, shares pertinent information with members of the healthcare team regarding the Patient Grievance/Safety program to drive actions for improvement. ·   Assist in the development and participates in contingency plans of organizational patient safety initiatives ·   Follows established guidelines for reporting, responding to, and monitoring compliance with the patient care grievances which results in formal grievances which includes but not limited to reporting to the Board. ·   Promotes an environment of teamwork within the department and externally with other departments ·   Effectively utilizes teamwork to address patient safety concerns ·   Fosters a culture of safety and a “no blame” environment for the department that effectively identifies and resolves patient safety concerns ·   Has a working knowledge of and educates staff on the SEA and Failure Modes, Effects, and Critical Analysis (FMECA) process when working with a patient safety concern ·   Department has been involved in or assisted in support of a patient safety initiative during the year ·   Incorporated risk reduction strategies into daily work activities ·   In coordination with Patient Safety Director (PSD), may assist in conducting SEAs as necessary ·   Actively supports improved compliance with external patient safety initiatives: HCA, TJC, Leapfrog, IHI and NQF   Regulatory Compliance and Patient Safety ·   Assists the Quality management Department with regulatory readiness, as requested by the VP of Quality. ·   Helps coordinate facility-wide activities regarding patient safety initiatives ·   At the direction of PSD, coordinate activities to improve compliance with IHI initiatives, Leapfrog and other patient safety goals for the facility ·   Assists in disseminating information and research related to changes in regulatory requirements and clinical research pertinent to potential liability exposures and risk issues   Claims and Litigation ·   Assists in the investigation of incidents that could lead to professional or general liability claims ·   May participate, at the direction of the Department Director, in the management and support of professional liability litigation, including coordination of discovery responses.   Clinical Safety Improvement Program (CSIP) ·   Assists PSD in working with Ancillary and Clinical Directors to coordinate and monitor the participation in the annual Clinical Safety Improvement Program ·   Help Patient Safety Department in monitoring progress of CSIP initiatives to help ensure success.   Committee Reporting ·   Provides reports and take meeting minutes for Patient Safety Committee ·   Ensures that reports are prepared timely and accurately ·   May be asked to represent the department on various hospital committees   Event Report Management ·   Assists the Patient Safety team in managing the Event Reporting Process ·   Ensures that the individual reports are reviewed and responded to appropriately and timely ·   Works with departmental leaders to ensure events have thorough investigations ·   Assists Patient Safety Director in closing completed events ·   Provides feedback to appropriate managers and personnel ·   Assists in onboarding new staff and leaders regarding the use of the event reporting system.   Grievance / Complaint ·   Manages the facility’s Patient Grievance and Complaint Process according to CMS requirements and other agencies, such as The Joint Commission and CDPHE. ·   Ensures grievance written responses are timely and compliant with policy ·   Prepares grievance report and analysis for committees ·   Provides coverage to respond to the bedside consultation as needed.   Staff Education ·   Educates staff on the patient grievance / complaint process and risk management, as appropriate ·   Identified scheduled and spontaneous opportunities for staff education ·   Oversees the content of the material given at hospital orientation and may be called on to present ·   Assists in the development of educational programs as needed   Human Resources Management ·   Ensures that annual employee evaluations are completed timely ·   Maintains and updates annual competencies as appropriate. ·   Maintains a supportive work environment for staff   Problem Solving/Critical Thinking ·   Demonstrates good judgment and a practical
