Registered Nurse PCU and Med Surg Float Pool


As a Registered Nurse PCU Medsurg Float Pool, your voice to influence patient care is valued and empowered at every turn –whether through open, collaborative relationships with your direct manager or more formal opportunities through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You'll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Progressive Care Unit and Medical Surgical Float Pool Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for performing patient assessments, developing a plan of care, and implementing and evaluating care. As a member of the interdisciplinary care team, you will work collaboratively with the other members to ensure the safe and accurate delivery of care. 




  • You will formulate a plan of care, revise the plan based on the patient’s response to treatment and regularly evaluate plan for effectiveness 


  • You will consult and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop, evaluate and revise the plan of care to meet the patient’s needs and goals 


  • You will administer medications and complete treatments according to hospital policy 


  • You will delegate work appropriately to non-licensed staff in accordance with standards of practice 


  • You will provide pre- and post-operative patient care 


  • You will provide education materials to patients and families on care and treatments 


  • You will facilitate discharge plans in collaboration with the care team 


 



Requirements 



Experience 


  • 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) 



Education 


  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - Preferred  


  • Associates Degree in Nursing 



License and Certifications 


  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. FT/PT/PRN colleagues with a compact license from a state other than Texas must: 


  • Apply for Texas RN license within 60 days from hire 



  • Obtain current TX RN license within 6 months of application for TX RN license  



  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required as per St. David’s Healthcare policy 


  • NIHSS certification – required within 30 days of hire 


  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification – required within 6 months of hire
