Work Schedule: 

Join our team as a Quality and Safety Nursing Program Specialist and bring your quality improvement knowledge and expertise! This unique opportunity is a 100% FTE position scheduled to typically work Monday through Friday, day shift hours, however some off hours or weekends may be required. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. You will primarily work at University Hospital located in Madison, WI.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to:

  • Lead enterprise-wide quality and safety initiatives that support nursing-sensitive indicators, hospital-acquired condition prevention, regulatory readiness, and National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and evaluate evidence-based programs that improve quality, safety, and clinical outcomes through process improvement and sustainable practice change.
  • Provide clinical expertise and program leadership by developing workflows, translating evidence into practice, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams across the organization.
  • Review current research, best practices, and regulatory standards to develop, implement, and evaluate programs that advance nursing quality and safety.
  • Partner with nursing and system leaders through enterprise-wide committees, workgroups, and communication strategies to drive organizational priorities and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate program outcomes and coordinate educational initiatives that promote evidence-based practice, professional nursing excellence, and a culture of quality and safety throughout UW Health.
  • Bring your expertise to the team!! Please review the qualifications carefully. Five (5) years of clinical nursing experience is required, and an MSN degree is highly preferred. Experience in quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory/accreditation standards, nursing professional practice, or performance improvement is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Nursing Required or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Required and
  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare, Administration or related field Required or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing AND twenty (20) years of nursing experience with a minimum of ten (10) of those years being in a nursing supervisor role or above may be considered in lieu of Master’s Degree Required
  • Master's Degree in Nursing Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred and
  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare, Administration or related field Preferred

Work Experience

  • 5 years of relevant experience working as a Registered Nurse Required
  • Experience with the applicable program Preferred
  • Program or project management experience Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Wisconsin or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
  • Certification in area of specialty or eligible for certification Preferred
