Registered Nurse - Med-Surg Unit

Location: Fort Defiance, Arizona

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a 20-bed medical-surgical unit serving adult geriatrics and pediatric patients.
• Staffing ratios:

  • Non-COVID patients: typically 4:1, max 5:1
  • COVID patients: typically 2:1, max 3:1
• May assist with flu immunization clinics as needed.
• Expected to attend staff meetings.
• Occasional floating to other departments where qualified, which may include taking a patient load or performing task-oriented duties (e.g., answering call lights, phones).

Shift & Hours

• 12-hour day shifts, typically 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next, plus up to 1 on-call shift per week.
• Must be flexible to work other shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Maximum of two shift call-offs allowed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 3 years of medical-surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with pediatric patients
• Certifications issued by the American Heart Association:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Orientation & Other Information

• Orientation sessions are held on Mondays only; missing the compliance deadline will delay orientation to the following Monday.
• Housing information is available but not provided here.
• Flexibility to float to other departments as needed.
