Pediatric Rheumatology Travel Nurse

Location: San Antonio, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day


Job Summary

Provide general nursing care in a pediatric rheumatology clinic setting. Responsibilities include medication administration, assisting healthcare providers, patient assessment, education, and documentation. Utilize critical thinking and evidence-based practice to develop and modify individualized care plans.


Patient Population

  • Pediatric patients with rheumatology conditions

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing care consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice
  • Administer medications and treatments; monitor for side effects and effectiveness
  • Assess and address psychological, emotional, cultural, social, and developmental needs of patients and families
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on health needs and resources
  • Facilitate patient throughput including admission, discharge, and transfer planning
  • Maintain and troubleshoot medical equipment; ensure proper use and maintenance
  • Process and validate medical orders, including standing and preprinted orders
  • Read and interpret patient charts accurately; identify and report discrepancies
  • Promote patient safety and respond to safety concerns from patients and families
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members across the continuum of care
  • Participate in nursing research, quality improvement, and compliance with clinical policies

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Completion of a Nurse Residency Program
  • Minimum 1 year of pediatric clinical patient care experience within the last year

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Work Schedule

  • Full-time, 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
