Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 7:15)

Job Description
- Position is for an LDRP nurse working between Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Mother-Baby units.
- Requires experience in both L&D and Mother-Baby care.
- Must be comfortable working with the prison population.
- Orientation includes two 8-hour shifts followed by two 12-hour shifts with the department.
- Both first-time travelers and local nurses are accepted.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee.
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year.
- Maternal-Newborn nursing experience.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Certifications required and must be valid throughout assignment:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
- AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification.
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB).
Required Documents & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service).
- Social Security Number or Card for system access.
- Proof of E-Verify or Attestation.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually or per contract renewal.
- Physical exam completed after signing, updated annually, attesting to ability to meet physical demands.
- Fit mask test updated annually (3M 1860s, 1860, or 1870+ masks only).
- Immunizations and titers:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months to 1 year.
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) vaccination (1 adult dose required).
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers or vaccinations as applicable.
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination.
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen including marijuana, completed annually.
- COVID-19 vaccination required prior to start; medical/religious exemptions considered.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required year-round.
Orientation & Training Requirements
- Orientation guidebook and travel packet must be reviewed and brought to orientation.
- Completion of facility-specific LMS education modules 5 days prior to start (4-8 hours depending on unit).
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and pass/fail testing (EKG/medication) as applicable.
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing and safety manuals required prior to start.
- Must sign confidentiality agreement, compliance acknowledgment, and other facility-required forms before start.
Additional Notes
- Must be willing to float between L&D and Mother-Baby units.
- Must carry a passport-style photo (white background, no hats/masks/sunglasses) for badge issuance.
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required.
- Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the facility for over 1 year.
This position offers a specialized nursing role in Labor and Delivery with a focus on both maternal and neonatal care, requiring specific certifications and comfort working with diverse patient populations including incarcerated individuals.
