RN - PCU
Location
- Asheville, North Carolina
Job Type
- Travel
- 36 hours per week
- 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- 40-bed clinical decision/direct admit unit
- Focuses on ED decompression, enhanced throughput, admission assessments, medication reconciliation, and initiating acute care orders
- Patient ratios: 1:5 for Step-Down, 1:6 for MedSurg, and 1:5 when combined
- Minimal bedside procedures
- Uses Baxter IV pumps
- Documentation system: Cerner
Schedule and Work Expectations
- Every other weekend
- No call
- Assist with holidays
- Floating to other units within skill set is expected
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- 2 years of PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- Med Surg experience
- Telemetry experience
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
Preferred Qualifications
- Charge nurse experience or willingness to consider it
Additional Notes
- Navy blue/white scrubs, or a combination of the two colors
- Teamwork and a positive attitude are emphasized
- Travel nurses often request extensions on this unit
