Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Flex Pool
Location: Hilo, HI
Assignment Type: Travel / Contract
Are you a versatile and adaptable Registered Nurse looking for your next adventure in paradise? We are seeking a skilled Flex Pool RN to join our team in Hilo, Hawaii. This role offers the unique opportunity to rotate through diverse clinical environments, including Medical, Surgical (Laulima), and Cardiovascular units, ensuring no two days are ever the same.
Position Overview
As a Flex Pool RN, you will provide high-quality patient care across multiple departments, adapting quickly to different unit dynamics and patient populations. This is an ASAP start for a dedicated professional ready to dive into the vibrant healthcare community of the Big Island.
Key Responsibilities
Dynamic Floating: Provide expert nursing care by floating between the Medical Unit (77 beds), Laulima Surgical Acute Unit (18 beds), and occasionally the Cardiovascular Unit (15 beds).
Clinical Excellence: Manage a variety of procedures and patient needs, including wound vacs, chest tubes, and medication administration via Pyxis.
Patient Advocacy: Maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios (ranging from 1:4 in Cardiovascular to 1:6/1:8 in Medical/Surgical) while providing compassionate, evidence-based care.
Documentation: Utilize Meditech EMR for accurate and timely clinical charting.
Schedule & Compensation
Shifts: 12-hour shifts available for both Days (0645–1915) and Nights (1845–0715).
Hours: 36 hours per week (following a comprehensive first week of orientation).
Weekly Pay: $2,232 Total Gross
Taxable Pay: $432
Stipends/Non-taxable: $1,800
Requirements
Experience: 3 years of nursing experience in Med/Surg or acute care settings.
Licensure: Must possess an active State of Hawaii RN License by the start of the assignment (applicants must apply upon offer acceptance).
Certifications: * Required: BLS, ACLS.
Preferred: PALS, TNCC, ENPC, or Procedural Sedation.
Health Policy: Documented proof of immunity is required; medical or religious exemptions are not accepted for this position.
