Responsibilities:

Functions as an expert in obstetrical education for childbearing population. Implements individual and group health education for both prenatal and postpartum patients. Collaborates and consults with area educators, nurses and healthcare professionals to advance healthcare practice and education and improve obstetrical outcomes. Promotes knowledge of healthy lifestyles through outreach health promotion and obstetrical presentations to various university, community and health organizations.

Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
High school diploma/GED and two (2) years' experience in Obstetrical education.

PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in related field.


MINIMUM REQUIRED: Current certification on or more of the following: 

 

  • ICEA-International Childbirth Education Association, the test is the ICCE-International Childbirth Certification Exam
  • CLE-Certified Lactation Educator/CLEC-Certified Lactation Educator Counselor/ CLC-Certified Lactation Counselor—The certification depends on which program they attended, they are all entry level certifications with alike educational knowledge
  • IBCLC-International Board Certified Lactation Consultant
