Description
The obstetrical technician (OBT) is responsible and accountable for scrubbing for all OB surgeries in Labor & Delivery.
He/she utilizes sterile technique to surgically assist physicians with such procedures as c/sections and tubal ligations.
He/she functions effectively during obstetrical emergencies.
The OBT is also responsible for preparing the surgical and delivery rooms and for assisting with patient care duties as assigned.
In the absence of the unit clerk the OBT also performs unit clerk functions to include general clerical and reception duties.
Works in collaboration with the entire healthcare team to provide each patient and family member excellent customer service.
