Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Shelby, NC. This contract position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment with a family-oriented culture. We are seeking an experienced RN with a minimum of 18 months of PCU experience to provide exceptional care to patients with various diagnoses.

Unit Information:

• Beds: 32
• Patient Ratios: RN 1:4 (may go to 1:5 depending on acuity); LPN 4:1; CNA Days 1:12; Nights 1:16
• Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: CHF, Dysrhythmia, Chest Pain work up, Stroke, Abdominal illnesses and infections, Respiratory illness, Diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, IVDA, etc.

Required Licensure & Certifications:

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Skills Required:

• Experience with traches, cardiac gtt experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, and management of central lines

Support within the Department:

• CNA - ADL’s
• Charge nurse – Resource to assist with all nursing care
• Phlebotomy available (other than nurse draws)
• IV/VAT Team
• RT, 24/7
• Hospitalist, 24/7
• Intensivist, 24/7
• Telemetry monitoring – bedside and nurses station

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Phillips

Floating:

• Within region and scope of practice; required to float to all facilities listed below, as needed
• Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH)
• If floating mid-shift, traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)

Orientation:

• NEO
• 2 days departmental

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: every other
• Call: Possibility of low census call (can be called back up to 3a for Nights and up to 3p for Days)
• Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
• Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
