Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Shelby, NC. Unit Information:

• Beds: 32
• Minimum Years of Experience required: 18 months PCU RN experience
• First-time travelers are welcome!

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• CHF
• Dysrhythmia
• Chest Pain work-up
• Stroke
• Abdominal illnesses and infections
• Respiratory illness
• Diabetes
• AKI/CKD
• ETOH withdrawal
• IVDA

Patient Ratios:

• RN: 1:4 (most common); could possibly go to 1:5 depending on acuity
• LPN (if applicable): 4:1
• CNA: Days 1:12; Nights 1:16

Required Licensure & Certifications:

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS

Skills required:

• Experience with traches
• Cardiac gtt experience
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Chest tubes
• Blood products
• Wound care/dressing changes
• Management of central lines

Support within the Department:

• CNA - ADL’s
• Receptionist/HUC (Dayshift only)
• Charge nurse – Resource to assist with all nursing care
• Phlebotomy available (other than nurse draws)
• IV/VAT Team
• RT, 24/7
• Hospitalist, 24/7
• Intensivist, 24/7
• Telemetry monitoring – bedside and nurses station

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Phillips

Floating:

• Within region and scope of practice
• Will be required to float per region needs
• Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)

Orientation (facility and unit):

• NEO
• 2 days departmental

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: every other
• Possibility of low census call
• Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays
• Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
