Labor & Delivery RN Job Details
- Location: Knoxville, TN 37923 (East Tennessee healthcare jobs)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: January 26, 2026
- Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP)
- On-Call: 2 shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month
- Orientation: 24 hours
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery and Postpartum RN experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Active RN license in Tennessee or compact state (must be in hand at time of submission)
- Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, NIHSS
- Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
- Ability to float to other hospital units as needed
- Must be able to work every other weekend and fulfill on-call requirements
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
- No time off requests during major holidays or within 14 days of start date
Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring, delivering, and postpartum patients
- Manage high-risk antepartum and postpartum cases
- Assist with high-risk deliveries and recover C-section patients
- Perform triage of obstetrical patients and sterile vaginal exams
- Utilize IUPC placement and calibration, maintain central lines (CVC/PICC), and administer specialized therapies (anticoagulation, antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate)
- Circulate for C-sections and maintain isolation precautions/PPE
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Cerner or hospital charting system
- Float to other units as required, following orientation
