Job Details

• Location: Dickson, TN 37055 (near Nashville, TN) — Tennessee nursing job / travel nurse opportunity
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,570 - $1,650/week
• Setting: LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) Unit with 4-bed Level II NICU and 1 OR suite
• Contract Type: Travel Assignment (12 weeks, potential to extend)
• Shift: Night Shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour nights)
• Shifts per Week: 3 (Full-time, 36 hours/week)
• Unit Details: 9 LDRP beds, 1 OBED bed. No techs or unit secretaries are available in this unit; nurses are responsible for all patient care and clerical duties.
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 active labor, 1:3 couplet care, 1:1 newborns until stable, NICU 1:3
• Documentation: Meditech and CPN experience preferred
• Dress Code: Pink and/or brown scrubs (per infant security policy)

Qualifications (Labor & Delivery Nurse / L&D RN)

• Active RN license (Tennessee or compact state) — must meet state licensing for travel nurses
• Minimum 1 year recent Labor & Delivery experience; charge nurse experience required
• BLS and NRP certifications required; Fetal Monitoring training required
• Hands-on experience in labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, and newborn care
• Advanced skills in fetal monitoring, inductions (Pitocin, Cervidil), and OB emergencies (shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage)
• Ability to float within facility as needed; strong teamwork and communication skills

Key Responsibilities (Labor & Delivery / OB Nurse)

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to mothers and newborns across labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum phases
• Serve as charge nurse as needed; lead and support the clinical team during night shifts
• Perform and assist with C-sections, circumcisions, intrauterine monitoring, and vacuum/forceps-assisted deliveries
• Manage fetal monitoring and respond to OB emergencies with proficiency and calm leadership
• Conduct daily patient rounding, safety checks, and family-centered education
• Accurately document patient care in Meditech and CPN systems
• Collaborate with experienced RNs, neonatal staff, obstetric providers, and the multidisciplinary team to optimize maternal-fetal outcomes
• Maintain compliance with unit policies and participate in ongoing perinatal education and training
