Required Qualifications (PCU / Telemetry RN)

  • Active RN license (compact license accepted where applicable)
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year recent Stepdown/Telemetry nursing experience
  • Experience with cardiovascular and vascular surgery populations preferred (open heart, TAVR, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
  • CVICU experience is a plus
  • Strong team player, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Proficient with Cerner EMR for documentation and charting

Core Responsibilities (Progressive Care / Cardiac Stepdown)

  • Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients recovering from cardiac and thoracic surgeries
  • Monitor and manage telemetry and stepdown patients, including complex cardiac and vascular cases
  • Administer and titrate cardiac drips and vasoactive medications such as phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, diltiazem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin and others
  • Perform and assist with procedures including epidural and chest tube management, tube feedings, and IV glucose management
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (cardiology, surgery, respiratory therapy, pharmacy) to optimize patient outcomes
  • Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner EMR and adhere to unit protocols for safety and infection control
  • Float to other Stepdown or Med-Surg units as needed while maintaining appropriate patient ratios

Schedule & Unit Expectations

  • Weekend Requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
  • May float to other Stepdown or Med-Surg units as operational needs dictate
