Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-week travel RN assignment in Salem, MA. Night shift (12-hour nights) on a Senior Inpatient Geriatric Psychiatric Unit (Epstein 3). Job Details

• Location: Salem, MA 01970 (Salem, Massachusetts – New England travel nursing)
• Setting: Senior Inpatient Geriatric Psychiatric Unit (Epstein 3)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (May 17, 2026 – August 15, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM); every-other-weekend required
• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,910 – $2,010
• Employment Type: Travel RN / Travel Nursing
• Charting System: EPIC EMR

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent inpatient adult psychiatric nursing experience (psychiatric RN, behavioral health)
• Current Massachusetts RN license (unencumbered)
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Proficiency with automated medication dispensing systems (Omnicell or similar)
• Experience with psychotropic medications, monitoring side effects, and medication administration
• Competency in IV pumps, diabetic care, and wound care for geriatric patients
• Ability and willingness to assume charge nurse responsibilities, manage admissions and discharges
• Knowledge of Massachusetts Department of Mental Health regulations, restraint/seclusion procedures, and legal statuses
• Familiarity with guardianship, healthcare proxy, and court-ordered medication laws
• Willingness to float to other units as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to geriatric adults with psychiatric diagnoses (anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, dual diagnoses)
• Monitor and manage medically acute behavioral health patients, including IV therapy, CPAP support, wound care, and diabetic management
• Administer and monitor psychotropic medications; assess for medication efficacy and side effects
• Perform efficient patient admissions, assessments, and discharges within the EPIC EMR
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned—oversee patient care, coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, and support staff
• Document care accurately and maintain compliance with clinical, safety, and legal requirements
• Participate in on-site AVADE and EKG training as provided
