Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Assignment in Salem, MA

Travel psychiatric RN opportunity in Salem, Massachusetts: Join a dedicated adult inpatient behavioral health team for a 13-week assignment in a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

Job Details

• Setting: Adult inpatient psychiatric unit / behavioral health unit
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: September 6, 2026
• End Date: December 5, 2026
• Shift Duration: 8 hours
• Schedule: Rotating day, evening, and night coverage with every-other-weekend rotation as assigned
• Guaranteed Hours: 32 per week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,120 - $2,230
• Location: Salem, MA 01970

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of inpatient adult psychiatric nursing experience
• Active Massachusetts RN license
• Current AHA BLS certification
• Strong understanding of psychotropic medications and common side effects
• Experience with admissions, discharges, and charge nurse responsibilities
• Comfort using an automated medication dispensing system
• Ability to manage care for adult patients ages 18 to 65 in a fast-paced behavioral health setting
• Experience with EPIC charting preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to adults with acute and chronic behavioral health needs
• Monitor and administer psychotropic medications safely and effectively
• Complete admissions, discharges, and ongoing patient assessments
• Support patients experiencing anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and dual diagnosis concerns
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu
• Serve in a charge nurse role when needed
• Assist with medically related needs such as IVs, CPAP support, wound care, and diabetic care as appropriate
• Follow facility policies, behavioral health regulations, and patient rights standards related to restraint, seclusion, legal status, guardianship, and healthcare proxy requirements
