Seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse for a 13-week acute care nursing job in Rockford, IL. Join a collaborative perioperative team, support a wide variety of surgical cases, and deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced operating room environment.
Job Details
- Location: Rockford, IL 61108 – a welcoming community with convenient amenities and easy access to local attractions.
- Setting: Acute Care Operating Room / Perioperative Nursing
- Start Date: 08/31/2026
- End Date: 11/30/2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 8-hour evenings, Monday through Friday, 2:45 PM to 11:15 PM
- Hours per Week: 40
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,700 - $2,840
- Call Requirements: Approximately once per week; every 3rd to 4th weekend; holiday call
- Charting System: Epic
- Orientation: 1 week
- Scrubs: Provided
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois
- Minimum of 3 years of Operating Room nursing experience
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Scrubbing experience required
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing, OR workflows, and surgical procedures
- Ability to work evening shifts and participate in a rotating call schedule
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented hospital environment
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality nursing care throughout the perioperative process
- Support a wide range of surgical specialties, including general surgery, GYN, urology, plastics, robotics, neuro, ortho, spine, EENT, and cardiothoracic cases
- Perform scrubbing duties as needed and assist the surgical team with procedural readiness
- Monitor patient condition and respond appropriately to changes in the operative setting
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and support staff to ensure smooth case flow
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and uphold established clinical standards
- Participate in call coverage for evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
- Contribute to a safe, efficient, patient-centered surgical environment with a focus on teamwork and quality care
