Job Details
- Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown / Telemetry Nursing
- Employment Type: Travel RN
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Call: No call
- Floating: May float to stepdown, med-surg, or inpatient holding areas as needed
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
- Location: Asheville, NC 28801
Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent registered nurse experience required
- Progressive care, stepdown, or telemetry RN experience required
- Current RN license in a compact or eligible state, as applicable
- BLS and ACLS required
- Strong teamwork, flexibility, and comfort working in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery experience preferred, including open heart, TAVR, thoracic surgery, AAA repair, and fem-pop bypass care
- CVICU experience is a plus
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care to cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, and overflow medical cardiology patients
- Monitor and assess patients with diagnoses such as heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
- Manage telemetry and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
- Perform and support therapies including epidural management, chest tube care, tube feedings, and IV Glucommander protocols
- Titrate and administer cardiac drips such as phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine per protocol
- Collaborate closely with charge nurses, PCTs, and the interdisciplinary care team to support safe, efficient patient flow
- Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner and uphold unit standards for quality care
