Job Details
- Position: CVOR Registered Nurse
- Employment Type: Travel RN
- Location: Springfield, Illinois
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,700 - $2,840
- Shift Duration: 8-hour days
- Shifts Per Week: 5 shifts per week
- Hours Per Week: 40
- Schedule: Day shift, 5x8s
- Call: 1-2 nights per week and every 5th weekend
- Weekend Coverage: Every third weekend on call
- Charting System: Cerner
- Start Date: 09/14/2026
- Contract Duration: 13-week travel assignment with opportunity to gain valuable experience in a high-volume surgical environment
Job Requirements
- Active Illinois RN license in hand or in process at time of submission
- At least 1 year of relevant CVOR or general Operating Room RN experience required; 3 years of strong perioperative experience strongly preferred
- BLS required
- ACLS preferred
- Experience in a teaching hospital and Level II trauma setting required
- Strong cardiovascular, vascular, thoracic, and endoscopic surgical skills preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity operating room environment
- Must be comfortable with on-call expectations and weekend coverage
- COVID-19 vaccine not required
- Flu vaccine required with medical or religious exemption only
Responsibilities
- Provide expert circulating and scrub support for cardiovascular operating room cases
- Assist with complex procedures including CABG, valve procedures, TAVR, LVAD, ECMO, and vascular surgeries
- Support thoracic procedures such as thoracotomy, VATS, mediastinoscopy, and lobe resection
- Assist with endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures as needed
- Maintain laser safety, specimen handling, and universal protocol standards
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative team members to ensure safe, efficient patient care
- Adapt to a busy surgical schedule while maintaining excellent clinical judgment and attention to detail
- Support patient care for adult and geriatric populations in a high-volume OR setting
