Job Details

• Position: Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN)
• Employment Type: Travel RN / Healthcare Job
• Location: Freeport, Illinois 61032
• Start Date: September 8, 2026
• Duration: 18 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Schedule: 36 hours per week, every other weekend, holiday rotation
• Orientation: 2 shifts of unit orientation
• Charting System: MEDITECH
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 - $1,890

Job Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license required
• BLS certification required
• At least 1 year of recent acute care or medical-surgical nursing experience required
• Post-operative recovery experience is strongly preferred
• Comfort caring for a broad med-surg patient population, including medical and post-op cases
• Ability to work independently on night shift and collaborate well with a supportive care team
• First-time travelers are welcome
• Must be willing to float within scope to ICU or Telemetry for med-surg overflow

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate, high-quality nursing care to med-surg patients
• Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions throughout the shift using MEDITECH
• Care for patients with common diagnoses such as post-operative recovery needs, CHF, COPD, diabetes, cellulitis, and other medical-surgical conditions
• Support patients requiring services such as wound vacs, surgical drains, BiPAP, high flow therapy, and peritoneal dialysis training
• Collaborate with charge nurses, nursing support staff, and respiratory therapy to coordinate care
• Participate in admissions, discharges, patient education, and ongoing care planning
• Work with centrally monitored telemetry patients as part of the unit workflow
• Float to ICU or Telemetry as needed for med-surg overflow, always within scope of practice
