Job Details
- Specialty: Emergency Room (ER) / Emergency Department (ED)
- Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (Travel RN)
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
- Contract Length: 16 weeks
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,250 - $2,370
- Location: Schenectady, NY 12308
- Schedule Notes: Every other weekend required; no self-scheduling; travelers may float to units within their competencies, including the ED Observation Unit
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York preferred at submission and required for auto-offer
- At least 1 year of Emergency Room nursing experience required; 2+ years preferred for auto-offer
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Prior travel nurse experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and every other weekend
- Comfort working in a high-acuity emergency care setting with a diverse patient population
- Must be able to float within clinical competencies as needed
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency nursing care to patients with urgent, chronic, medical, surgical, dental, and emotional needs
- Perform core ED duties including medication administration, IV starts, phlebotomy, EKGs, transports, drips, and infusions
- Assess, stabilize, and monitor patients experiencing illness or trauma in the Emergency Department
- Support safe and efficient patient flow in a busy 70-bed ED
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to deliver timely, compassionate care
- Provide care to mental health crisis patients as part of a dedicated crisis stabilization environment within the ED
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow established clinical and safety protocols
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities while delivering excellent patient care in a team-oriented healthcare setting
