Job Details

• Location: Madison, WI 53792 — a vibrant city with scenic lakes, a lively downtown, and a welcoming community atmosphere
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
• Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown / Intermediate Care / Telemetry
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Shifts Per Week: 3 shifts per week, with an option for 4x12s based on interest and unit needs
• Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM; every other weekend or as needed to support scheduling
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 – $2,250
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Unit Setting: Adult cardiac stepdown / intermediate care

Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent acute care experience in PCU, DOU, IMC, telemetry, or stepdown nursing
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS and ACLS certification through AHA only
• Epic charting experience required
• Telemetry experience required, with successful completion of a telemetry exam prior to start
• Experience caring for adult cardiac, surgical, and trauma patients preferred
• Ability to float as needed and work in a fast-paced academic medical environment
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care for acutely ill adult cardiac stepdown patients
• Monitor telemetry rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Manage patients with cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, insulin protocols, and respiratory support needs
• Perform comprehensive assessments, administer medications, and coordinate care plans
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, IV teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Care for general care and IMC-level patients while maintaining safe patient ratios
• Support a strong culture of teamwork, advocacy, and patient-centered care
• Float as needed to meet unit needs and maintain continuity of care
