• Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 3 shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Hours Per Week: 36
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,040-$2,150
• Charting System: EPIC
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Participation in the holiday rotation
• Floating: May float to other stepdown units as needed
• Orientation: 2 shifts on the unit

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• At least 1 year of acute care nursing experience required
• Strong neuro stepdown or cardiac stepdown experience preferred
• BLS and NIHSS required
• ACLS preferred
• EPIC experience required
• Experience caring for stroke patients and implementing NIH Stroke Scale protocols
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
• Flexibility to support patient care needs across similar units if floated

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to higher-acuity neuroscience stepdown and EMU patients
• Monitor and assess patients with diagnoses including strokes, seizures, craniotomy recovery, and other neurological conditions
• Support safe, effective care in a 1:3 stepdown ratio environment
• Collaborate with charge nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members to coordinate care
• Administer medications and manage patient care according to physician orders and unit protocols
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC
• Respond to changing patient conditions with strong clinical judgment and clear communication skills
• Contribute to a supportive, patient-centered hospital team environment
