Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Travel) – Adult Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit in Lima, Ohio

• Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Every third weekend; every other holiday
• Patient Population: Adults 18+ with behavioral health needs
• Unit Size: 21 beds
• Typical Length of Stay: 4-5 days
• Typical Ratios: 1:5 on average, may flex to 1:6 based on staffing

Job Requirements

• Active RN license in the state of assignment or compact eligibility
• Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience required
• 2 years of experience preferred
• Current BLS certification required
• CPI certification preferred, or ability to obtain within 90 days of start
• Behavioral health, mental health, or recent psych RN experience preferred
• Strong de-escalation, communication, and patient advocacy skills
• Ability to remain calm and effective in a dynamic inpatient behavioral health environment

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation
• Create and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for adult psychiatric patients
• Monitor patient behavior, assess emotional and physical status, and communicate findings to the care team
• Participate in treatment planning, discharge planning, and ongoing evaluation of patient progress
• Use de-escalation techniques and therapeutic interventions to support patients in crisis
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members to promote positive outcomes in behavioral health care
• Advocate for patients while maintaining dignity, respect, and a relationship-based approach to care
• Document care accurately and follow facility policies, procedures, and safety standards
