Overview

This 25-week travel nursing assignment is designed for a Registered Nurse with recent experience in cardiac stepdown, cardiac ICU, or medical/surgical ICU settings. You will care for patients recovering from open-heart procedures and other complex cardiac conditions while floating as needed to support ICU patient care needs.

Job Details

• Location: Springfield, Illinois
• Setting: Cardiac Intensive Care / Cardiac Stepdown with floating support to ICU units as needed
• Employment Type: Travel RN
• Start Date: ASAP / October 12, 2026
• Contract Length: 25 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Shift Pattern: Approximately 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week; every other weekend
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,360-$2,480

Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent Registered Nurse experience in cardiac, ICU, or stepdown care
• Active Illinois RN license in hand
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Current NIHSS certification
• Strong experience caring for cardiac, medical ICU, and surgical ICU patients
• Ability to float when needed and adapt to changing patient acuity
• Travel nurse experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled bedside nursing care for cardiac and critical care patients
• Monitor and assess patients recovering from open-heart surgeries and other complex cardiac conditions
• Support patients in medical and surgical ICU settings as assigned
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to deliver safe, high-quality patient care
• Respond to changing patient needs and prioritize care in a fast-paced acute care environment
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately and promptly
• Float to related units as needed to support patient care coverage
