Join a fast-paced Emergency Department Observation Unit in New Haven, Connecticut, where you’ll care for a diverse patient population in a high-acuity, interdisciplinary setting. This 16-bed observation unit offers the opportunity to strengthen your emergency nursing skills while working alongside an experienced care team. Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980 - $2,080
- Setting: ED Observation Unit / Emergency Department
- Schedule: 3x12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Shift Duration: 12 hours
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Hours Per Week: 36
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Charting System: Epic preferred
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Location: New Haven, CT 06510
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for Connecticut practice
- 1.5+ years of experience in a high-acuity emergency department, ED observation, or similar acute care setting preferred; 2 years preferred
- Experience caring for patients with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC or TNS, PALS, ENPC, NIHSS, and CPI
- Epic experience preferred
- Ability to work in a Level I trauma environment and adapt to changing patient needs
- Flu vaccine required
- Ability to work every other weekend and float within scope as needed
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled emergency nursing care in a non-admitted ED Observation Unit
- Assess, monitor, and manage patients with a variety of emergency and observation-level conditions
- Administer medications and perform high-acuity interventions as indicated
- Support care for patients with trauma, stroke, chest pain, psychiatric, and medical emergencies
- Collaborate with physicians, providers, and interdisciplinary team members to support safe, efficient patient flow
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow established clinical protocols
- Float within scope to meet facility needs and provide exceptional patient-centered care
