Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry | 13-Week Night Shift Assignment in Anderson, SC

  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
  • Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 6:45 p.m.–7:15 a.m.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
  • Typical Ratios: Approximately 1 nurse to 5–6 patients
  • Electronic Medical Record: Epic
  • Float Expectations: Resource-pool nurses may float among medical-surgical and telemetry units as needed
  • Orientation: Approximately 16–20 hours

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; pending licensure may be considered with completion before the start date
  • At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical and/or telemetry nursing experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience caring for adult and geriatric patients in an acute-care hospital setting
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Proficiency with central-line care, peripheral IV management, and starting and maintaining IVs
  • Knowledge of oxygen administration, nasal cannula therapy, isolation precautions, cerebrovascular accident (CVA) care, and renal-failure management
  • Ability to float between medical-surgical and telemetry units
  • Current required immunizations or approved exemptions in accordance with assignment policy

Medical-Surgical and Telemetry RN Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical and telemetry patients
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize changes in patient condition, and escalate concerns promptly
  • Administer medications and treatments while following established patient-safety protocols
  • Perform central-line and peripheral-line care, IV therapy, oxygen administration, and related bedside nursing procedures
  • Manage patients with varied diagnoses, including cerebrovascular accidents and renal failure
  • Maintain accurate nursing documentation in Epic
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
  • Float to assigned medical-surgical and telemetry units based on patient-care needs
  • Support a positive patient experience through clear communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team
