Join a Level III Trauma Center as an adaptable ICU Travel Nurse in Puyallup, WA. This 15-week contract offers 12-hour day shifts, 36 guaranteed hours per week, and float pool experience across critical care, progressive care, medical-surgical, rehabilitation, and emergency department holding units.
ICU Travel Nurse Job Details
- Location: Puyallup, Washington
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

- End Date: February 13, 2027
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
- Healthcare Setting: On-site nursing float pool within a Level III Trauma Center
- Support Services: 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- Patient Ratios: ICU approximately 1:2 based on acuity; PCU/CCU approximately 1:4; medical-surgical approximately 1:5
- Charting and Medication Systems: EPIC, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis
- Orientation: Two days of hospital orientation followed by one day on the assigned unit
ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of ICU nursing experience; experience in PCU, acute care, or nursing float pool environments is highly valuable
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure eligible for practice in Washington
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications for ICU and PCU assignments
- Previous EPIC experience required
- Telemetry competency and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
- Clinical proficiency with ventilator management, invasive line management, general drains, tracheostomies, and ostomies
- Ability to titrate critical medications, including amiodarone, Cardizem, nitroglycerin, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin, and heparin, as appropriate to the assigned unit
- Strong communication, patient education, organization, flexibility, and resourcefulness
- Willingness to float within the nurse’s scope of practice, including partial-shift assignments when needed
ICU Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to critically ill and medically complex patients across a variety of inpatient units
- Care for patients with respiratory failure, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, gastrointestinal bleeding, renal failure, stroke, complicated postoperative conditions, cardiac and pulmonary disease, and other acute diagnoses
- Perform comprehensive assessments, recognize changes in patient condition, and promptly escalate concerns
- Manage telemetry, ventilators, invasive lines, chest tubes, lumbar drains, tracheostomies, ostomies, IV therapies, and other unit-specific equipment
- Safely administer and titrate ordered medications while monitoring patient response
- Support patient transport throughout the hospital, including imaging, procedural, emergency, and specialty areas, when assigned to transport responsibilities
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, technicians, and interdisciplinary team members
- Provide patient and family education and maintain accurate documentation in EPIC
- Adapt quickly to a fast-paced float pool environment while maintaining high standards of clinical judgment and patient safety
